When I paint my first goal is to unify a certain space into something beautiful...colors, textures, and forms in a harmony of sensual delight. My other aim is to evoke an intellectual and emotional response, to nudge the observer towards seeing something familiar in a new way. Achieving either of these objectives brings satisfaction; accomplishing both in the same painting is truly exciting for me. I see some elements of style common throughout my work; however, I’ve yet to find a groove and each piece almost comes out of nowhere. |
